To all,I made a visit to the Shaumburg RAIN yesterday and picked up some interesting news.First,my waitress told me that the managers never talk revenue other than to tell the rank and file things are going well but in re to reports on the first day of the soft open at DW they kept talking about how amazing it was that DW grossed $90,000 in restaurant and retail sales!A little quick math suggests that if they don't bother to have the grand opening, and no one talks about it,and a green staff doesn't get more efficient we'll only do $33,000.000 in sales there in a year.Start looking at trailers,Terry!
Next, the Stratospere RAIN opening is pushed back to December.Further,a Tuesday afternoon at Shaumburg is about as busy as a Tuesday in Gurnee, which means the Gurnee is doing well.Particularly, when a manager I asked as an investor to talk to, told me that the Q at Shaumburg went just as they expected and then proudly and forcefully said, "We're right on target!!"We then talked about the legendary long lines at Shaumburg and he explained that they are greatly reduced because they staff and system has gotten much more efficient at processing diners and thus lines are shorter (and customers less frustrated) while revenues have definitely improved (and I would suspect overhead is down)Additionally, there are way more children at Shaumburg than at Gurnee which suggests to me more per seat revenue at Gurnee. Finally, while both Gurnee and Shaumburg have incredible traffic in the retail store, from watching shopper's arms as they were leaving the store for about a half hour its my opinion that Gurnee does a lot more actual selling.(I believe Gurnee will only add a month of revenues this report-from opening to end of June.Since there's been alot of time to count earning I suspect the manager and Robinow are pretty darn sure about how much sales were.)
On a lighter note,I agree with Milo this has really become a great thread and I'm glad we have a psychiatrist around because we're really a 'wired' and crazy bunch of cybertraders. Also,on August 15th I'm scheduled to make a really BIG investment - getting married. So my imput here may be somewhat more sporadic in the coming weeks.Details,details,details...
