NEW YORK (CBS.MW) -- Advanced Micro Devices (AMD: news, chart, profile) rallied 23 cents, or 1.5 percent, to $15.58 after Morgan Stanley upgraded the chipmaker to "equal weight" from "underweight," citing the belief that management's focus on earnings has led to a stronger product line, and to potentially sustainable earnings growth. Analyst Mark Edelstone also raised his 2004 earnings estimate to 45 cents a share from 25 cents, and his 2005 estimate to 85 cents a share from 50 cents. "Although valuations are relatively high, our "attractive" industry view reflects our belief that solid increases in earnings power and positive surprise potential should support higher stock prices," Edelstone said in a note to clients.>>
