With Supply Imbalances ahead of market moves, market orders take what you want and subtracts shares from the trade. The Bid and Ask has too much fakery in it. If they dont want to serve you, they wont....when you know supply is precious, stalk em with market orders, because your role as an investor is taking them out of the trade anyway, and your prepared to wait. When you get what you want within a few pennies why complain. Traders need to trade, that is far different than accumulating over months. Investor Intent is what shapes the underlying market more than anything else, though one must understand that if a stock is in wash and rinse cycle, its headed in that direction until the book report indicates all that can be gotten has been gotten.... The Market is a system, traders, investors of all classes long or short all play specific roles at different times.
