What you say is true only because our fight against terrorism is being conducted from as myopic a point-of-view as yours. We are 18th century England fighting the French and Indians. We may eventually win the war, but with tremendous expense, economically, militarily and politically.

Even the worst strategist can see we need more flexibility in our approach here. It is clearly futile to kill people whose lives are so meaningless they are willing to kill themselves.

The only weapon terrorists truly understand is terror itself- real honest-to-goodness horror of a nature so ghastly it threatens to turn us all into devils. When we begin to employ that sort of weapon, the war will end with blinding rapidity.
