U.S. files WTO complaint against China
First-ever action against China at the WTO challenges Chinese tax policies.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The United States became the first country on Thursday to bring action against China at the World Trade Organization, in a case challenging Chinese tax policies that Washington believes are an unfair barrier to semiconductor imports.

"U.S. manufacturers of semiconductors and other products have a right to compete on a level playing field with Chinese firms," U.S. Trade Represent Robert Zoellick said in a statement. "As a WTO member, China must live up to its WTO obligations. It cannot impose measures that discriminate against U.S. products."
