A considerable number of Americans - including many in the pro-war camp - believe this administration has not been forthright enough about the reasons for the intelligence failure.

Given the public pronouncements of members of the Clinton administration on Iraqi WMD, which were completely consistent with the pronouncements of the Bush administration on Iraqi WMD, it seems clear to me that the Bush administration did not fabricate evidence on this topic.

I have cited before pronouncements by Valerie Plame's husband, Joseph Wilson, on this, and if anybody has a motive to undercut the Bush administration, it is he, caveat that I am not confusing motive with reason. Wilson's motive is in his head, in my opinion, but he's no friend of the present administration, I think is painfully obvious. And he said that Iraq had WMD. Wilson was a former member of the staff of the US ambassador to Iraq.

Did Iraq have WMD? I posted yesterday about long range missiles, empty warheads, dual use chemicals, nuclear weapons equipment (centrifuges) buried under rose bushes. And we have the testimony of refugees, former scientists for the regime.

Should we have waited for a mushroom cloud over 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue?
