Yes, you're right about Powell. He probably let more people down than did Bush, as many people expected more out of Powell than what we saw from his behavior over Iraq. With Bush we knew it'd be all bad!

I have a very close friend who is a black graduate of Harvard University. He always held Powell in very high regard, actually hoping that some day Powell would become president or vice president. But his view changed markedly after Powell's infamous UN presentation. A few days afterwards my friend told me he no longer had any faith in Powell as a leader.

Indeed, there was widespread belief that Powell was holding his position in order to ward off the extreme GOPwinger faction. But, instead, Powell went to bed with 'em!

One theory I hold as to why Powell jumped onto the GOPwinger bus is because that's where the big money is. And that big money would be needed in the future were his son, now head of the FCC, to enter elective politics with hope of becoming president of the United States.

As things stand today, I don't think my friend would vote for either of the two Powells. I know I won't!
