I start with saying that Taiwan was is and will remain a province of China. Having said I can abbreviate your statement: plenty of people in China think that the president of Taiwan had his own people shoot him in order to gain sympathy. In other words they were to carefully shoot him in the stomach bypassing the spinal cord somehow. Now China has 1.3 billion people so if 0.001% of them think that the moon is made of green cheese then that means 13,000 people think so. That's plenty of people. But if by "plenty of people" you meant that a large % of people in China think so, then the statement must be in conflict with reality. Nothing I know about Chinese people suggests such stupidity. I personally even believe that Chinese people are slightly more intelligent than the average homo sapiens because for 2000 years ability to master the written language gave a male an iron rice bowl. In any case one doesn't get to be head of a hsien, let alone a province, with a mind that thinks it's safe to have a bullet aimed at one's trunk. I can't believe that a significant % of Chinese people would think such a strategy would be employed to win sympathy. It's not that I agree politically with the guy. But some accusations are not believable.
