Souper one, An upgrade path has been lacking, part of the strategy, throw the old one away and buy a new one. Most ISA(Industry Standard Architecture) PC motherboards can be upgraded, keeping monitor, cards case etc for a saving. Not Apple, to their detriment.
If they do that they can get a huge older installed base into the current fast machine base.
A very good move if doable. In addition, anyone and his dog can just buy the motherboard and improvise a new Mac. Unless of course they strangle this concept with a hand the old board back policy.
