It would seem that indeed it is a real estate sharing deal. I'd much prefer them using the GMST guide and using the Guide to link to Showcases and getting a cut of all of it. But the most logical (but not necessarily correct interpretation) is that GMST will get to bring its own sponsors to TiVo's Showcase feature. I wonder how this might work with Comcast? TiVo is talking about 10 million TiVo subscribers in 3 years, which would create for very valuable subscriber numbers for a Showcase. I don't think it will be long before Comcast can equal those PVR numbers.

I am also curious why a sponsor would choose to go to TiVo Showcase via GMST rather than going straight through TiVo. Perhaps because GMST will have a larger addressable audience through Time Warner, Comcast, TiVo, et al., to guarantee greater distribution. I don't know the answer, just blatant speculation.
