Of course you don't need credentials to have an opinion but unless your opinion is based on facts, then that's all it is. The man who made those statements is an expert in that particular field of history. Therefore his opinion is based on his extensive knowledge of primary source documents, while yours is not.

The hypothetical "what if" that you postulated is irrelevant to the issue, but it is obvious that you are the one not open to genuine scholarship. How do I know? I know because the actual evidence points to a conclusion that you refuse to acknowledge. If you could demonstrate to me that Jesus did not rise from the dead I would in fact change my position. So Who's mind is fixed?

I submit that if your 60,000 arches suddenly appeared, you would have an alternate explanation and still refuse to believe.
