This piece from the LU thread seems to confuse two aspects of I2O. Let me try to clarify...

The I2O solution runs on WIND's real-time operating system (RTOS) named IxWorks. IxWorks is a special version of their standard RTOS, VxWorks. Thus the solution itself is independent of Windows or Unix. For more on IxWorks, see: wrs.com

WIND's development environment for implementing IxWorks is Tornado for I2O. According to WIND's product data it does not run on Unix. Other versions of Tornado do run on Unix, and I'm sure that if there was sufficient demand that WIND would make it avaliable. See: wrs.com
