"Perhaps even they are fed up with the Liberal corruption and incompetence"

Say what you will the Libs have tamed the financial crisis the conservatives never could. Like it or not the sort of politics staked out by the Liberals suits most Canadians fine. Middle of the road, big on social programs and fiscal responsibility.

The biggest weapon they can wield against Harper is painting him as an extremist. I heard him just weeks ago on the radio here in Winnipeg and he admitted he personally (but not politically) was in favor of a self-pay parallel medical system. If that becomes a widely known fact it will sink him - you don't mess with Health care. I'm pretty sure he lost my vote right there.

Otherwise his association with the Reform party will play against him with many voters, especially in the East. Too many Refomers have come across as plain extremist even if now purged. Harper's talk of tax reduction makes me nervous - its a great concept but every time its tried - the US and Ontario for example - it results in huge deficits and it punishes the poor. Thats not responsible government.

Personally I hate the sponsorship scandal but still like Canada as a country just fine - so I may still vote Liberal to support the status quo.
