There is not even the remotest of possibilities that Bush, Kerry or anyone else can prevent terrorist attacks in the US. Just look what the DC sniper accomplished armed with a single rifle and a used car. We may be able to prevent the really large scale, complex operations, but there is no defense against small scale attacks without radically changing our society, which I think most Americans would find unacceptable.
