<<<.. and so I say, time to run, time to hide, and the last one out the door is either a Long Term Buy and Bag Holder ("LTBBH"), or the door mat; same difference.>>>
I don't know of anyone who has made money running and hiding. I agree however, things do not look all that rosy at the moment.
But, as you have often said "crisis=opportunity". Why does this not apply now?
Fundamentally, "the good guys" are always meeker than the "bad guys". There are a lot more "good guys" than "bad guys". The "good guys" have to wait to the last minute before they take any action.
It is not like it's a terrific secret. We all know that killing each other is not a remedy for anything. Most people are smart enough to understand this. But, there is always a bunch of people who think, they can change people's minds by either killing them or threatening to kill them.
Those days are almost over when that bunch can fool us into thinking that killing is a solution. With the advent of the Internet, the truth cannot be as easily distorted. Of course, I recognize that this craziness(cycle of violence) is not going away overnight - especially when I see beautiful young women on cable TV shilling for the dark side - when offered jobs in the limelight.
It is almost over for the dark side. The US will again lead the free world into a new millennium - China, India, and others will participate in a meaningful role - (I mean, someone has to provide the consumers to lust for Starbucks Coffee, reruns of "Friends" and "Sex and the City" on DVD, and conspicuous consumption on a level never to be imagined)gggg.
On the investment level, I recommend that you save up your pennies. The economic boom that is coming will not be denied. It will happen all of a sudden. Just like and just as quickly as when the Internet took hold.
People will recognize that killing is not a solution for anything and that if we study hard enough and work hard enough, life can be pretty good.
However, if you are right and I am wrong than the world will truly end. Not as the way we know it. It will end.
Given that alternative, I opt for endless reruns of "Sex in the City" <GGGGGGGG>
