Ken,

I think you want to turn off the "Autocomplete" feature and then clear history.

Click on Tools above.
Select Internet Options
Under the Content tab, click Auto Complete and clear the check marks and also clear forms and passwords if you like.
Then look under the General tab, clear history.

The other way to clear things from the drop down list on Google is to double click in the search box to open the list and then place your cursor (don't click) over each item one at a time and hit the delete button. But you still need to turn off the autocomplete feature.
