It'll be curious to see how this purported assassination attempt plays out. There seems to be a bit of farce involved.

I'm reminded of the guy behind the curtain at the Bush/Cheney 1984 campaign, Karl Rove.

It's an unproven story but most likely true that he purposefully bugged his own office, then called the media (instead of the police) to investigate in a Texas governor's race. Rove blamed the Democrat, and the Democrat didn't have the savvy or enough time to counteract the treachery and thereby lost the election.

Dirty tricks come in so many interesting flavors.
