Of course, that's not going to happen, because the "gifted leaders" who step up will not have any backing.

So, my feeling is that Israel should disband most of the settlements other than those right on the Green Line (Gush Etzion, Ma'aleh Adumim, etc) and finish the separation fence, declare that the border, and be done with the Palestinians. However, the Israelis seem to really want to keep Ariel, which is right by the Jordanian border.

Not helping things is the fact that Jordan tacitly wants Israel to keep the land along the Jordanian border because they're deathly afraid of the Palestinians becoming their problem.
