Oh come on, radicals are everywhere including inside the Oval Office. Given what happened in Florida, the redistricting going on everywhere and the lying going on in the admin, democracy isn't guaranteed here in the US either.

In addition, democracy isn't a guarantee that a government is going to be friendly to the US. It isn't a guarantee of anything other than elections and, occasionally, mob rule. Elections can be good, bad, indifferent, apathetic, ridiculous, misled and even horrible for those voting.

What people really want is a high standard of living with all the creature comforts they can think of, rule of law without corruption, social/religious/economic liberalism and nice weather.

Heck, tons of people don't even bother to vote in the US. Democracy is a catch-all phrase that really is a substitute for US-Junior. We're much more than just a democracy.
