The majority of Baader-Meinhof members were caught alive and jailed. Some have even been released in the meantime, they all regret their deeds now

Let's look at that. Some had different fates...and some of those released were set free to appease kidnappers.

As I recall...several were killed in shootouts. Frankfurt and Hamburg come to mind...or was it just cops who were killed there? Four committed simultaneous violent suicide while in German top security prisons. The line then was that they shot themselves in the head several times. One tried to kill herself by stabbing herself in the chest several times in prison. Another starved to death in a German top security prison.
(I am sure you know there are other versions of the details.)

Other were released from German prison to appease the kidnappers of a Berlin politician. I don't recall their ultimate fate. I do recall wondering whether those released were the terrorists that attacked American and Jewish targets in Germany. I don't know.

It is difficult to recall all the details as the Baader Meinhof aka Red Army, the Zweite Juni (2 June) aka Tupamaros, and the revolutionary cells aka RZ were all active in Germany at that time.

Libyan and Turkish terrorists were active in Germany even after them. Perhaps even today. aq trained of course. The Libyans were interested in and attacked Americans.

Interesting to note that the Baader Meinhof leaders were trained at an Arab Muslim terrorist training camp around 1970.

America had a nationwide alert against bombs being mailed from Germany at Christmas 1999.

I thought Germany managed terrorists well until the prisoner release and I doubt that would be done again. I am certainly happy to see Germany participating in taking the fight to the terrorists in Afghan. I believe you are going to have to do more.
