SiPphone's New Call-in-One Device Adds Free Internet Calling to Traditional Household Phones

SAN DIEGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 24, 2004--SiPphone.com today announced immediate availability of its Call-in-One Internet telephony adapter, developed and manufactured by Leadtek Corporation (www.SiPphone.com/store). The Call-in-One allows consumers to add free Internet calling to their standard home or office phone. By combining traditional phone service with the ability to make and receive high quality Internet calls SiPphone's Call-in-One gives users the ability to do free Internet calling without interrupting their existing phone service.

To date there have been two Internet telephone options, services offering a monthly flat rate nominally lower than traditional telco plans, and emerging services that require people to make and receive calls while sitting at their computer. "The Call-in-One eliminates the awkwardness of other Voice-over-IP (VoIP) solutions, by combining free Internet calling with your traditional home phone service," says Michael Robertson, SiPphone.com's founder and CEO. "With Call-in-One you get the best of both worlds on your existing phone."

"For Internet-based calling to move into the mainstream, it needs to operate identically to the existing phone. People don't want to talk into a computer," says Michael Robertson, CEO of SIPphone.com. "Plus, with SiPphone, you can save hundreds of dollars a year in long distance and international calling."

The Call-in-One combines the convenience of your regular phone with the benefits of Internet telephony, including free worldwide calling, digital quality calls, voicemail delivered to email, free on-the-fly conference calling and more. Session Initiated Protocol, or SiP, is the new standard for VoIP service. Call-in-One combines the traditional phone service with its inevitable replacement, SiP VoIP service.

"The success of SiPphone.com signifies the broadband telephony service as a mature and cost effective communication solution that rivals the traditional telephony services. SiPphone has done a great job in developing the Plug-N-Dial technology to remove the barriers that have limited the growth of VoIP. We are excited to be a contributor to the technology and a supplier of the Call-in-One," says K.S. Lu, CEO of Leadtek Research Inc.

Call-in-One makes it possible for the millions of early adopters around the world to add Internet telephony, without losing their existing service or disturbing other home or office members. A SiPphone.com beta user sent a Call-in-One to his sister in Switzerland. "Now when I call her, she doesn't even know I am making a free call from my SiPphone, and she doesn't have to go searching for the 'other' phone," says Chris Lindland, an early SiPphone customer.

Another beta user, Elizabeth Gardner, praised Call-in-One's seamless integration with his existing local telco service. "I added Call-in-One without one complaint from my husband or daughters, since the phone works exactly as it did before. The difference is now I can call my business partner in Japan for free on our regular telephone."

Call-in-One is about the size of a small hardback book, and plugs into a broadband connection and an existing phone line. The device uses SIPphone's Plug-N-Dial standard to automatically configure itself seconds after it is plugged in. There are no monthly or setup fees. Call-in-One retails for under $90, and can only be purchased from SiPphone.com's website. The unit is available immediately for domestic and international customers.
