(NYSE: DPH) announced today at the Mid-America Trucking Show that its SIRIUS Satellite Radios (Nasdaq: SIRI) will begin to accompany drivers of Penske Truck Leasing's Fleet over the long miles of travel on the road. Delphi Electronics & Safety's SIRIUS Satellite equipped radios enable subscribers to listen to news, talk, weather, entertainment and sports. Penske Truck Leasing will outfit some of its class 8 trucks with Delphi's satellite radio and antennas to receive SIRIUS reception through a deal with its distributor -- Pana- Pacific. Delphi manufactures a complete line of receivers and antennas capable of receiving more than 100 channels of satellite-broadcast audio entertainment. The user accesses satellite radio using the radio buttons that are simple and easy to use like traditional AM/FM band radios. The radios supplied to Penske Truck Leasing include radios with base CD or cassette with J1850 data bus. The alphanumeric or LCD (liquid crystal display) provides additional information including the channel, type of music and song and artist name. "Satellite radio is extremely popular for over-the-road travelers and especially professional truck drivers," said Owens. "The variety of programming and coast-to-coast connection provided by satellite radio adds a great deal of value for over-the-road travelers. Our feedback shows that satellite radio is helping to make the long hauls shorter for thousands of truckers."
