No there selling just fine from what I read. Pleasanton is the cross roads for two major freeways, has good schools, a large percentage of income form businesses and a dynamic downtown that draws thousands for street fairs and the like. Real estate has appreciated very well there and it's out performing the county average.
The land was held by S.F water district for decades. Late nineties the city and S.F worked out a settlement on the development. There's some 500 acres and 3/5's of it was returned to the city in the agreement. There's now a bunch of amenities planned for the remainder.

Anyone that moves to Pleasanton isn't doing it for cost reasons unless they want to pay more.
