I'm not interested in facile, speculative ex post facto reasoning.

Ask the Israelis if there is anything they can do about successful suicide bombers. Are some successful? Of course. Do the Israelis know of the risk? Better than anyone. Then, ergo, by your reasoning and your lights, the suicide attacks should never be successful since, obviously, the Israelis could take steps that in retrospect can prevent them.

We know the reality is far, far different.

I hope you see the flaws in your logic.

My point is that until someone shows me something factual and specific that occurred before 9/11 which could have reasonably be anticipated to have broken the chain of causation before the attacks, the discussion is quite stupid. It presumes treason and colossal incompetence on the part of either Administrations. Only those with a screw loose think this is a possibility.
