Maybe it has something to do with the English speaking world. In Australia, Latham has caused an uproar. His position is called anti-Australian and he much worse.

LABOR STANDS FIRM ON IRAQ TROOPS PROMISE

The Federal Opposition Leader Mark Latham has reaffirmed his promise to have 850 Australian troops home from Iraq by Christmas, if Labor wins the next federal election.

Mr Latham says the war on Iraq has increased the terrorist threat to Australia, and the country will be safer with the troops at home.

He also says he does not believe that withdrawing Australian troops will damage the government's relationship with the United States.

Meanwhile, in an article published in the Wall Street Journal, the Prime Minister John Howard has urged the world to stand united against terrorism.

Mr Howard says withdrawing troops from Iraq sends a message to terrorists that they can influence Western countries' foreign policy.

Spain's new government, which was elected just after the Madrid bombings, had campaigned on the promise it would withdraw the countries' troops from Iraq.
