Hi Fred, The two-years-to-retirement and you're out syndrome is a well known feature of life in high tech. Companies like IBM, Motorola, 3M and many others are notorious for their brutal policies regarding older workers who might become a pension liability to the companies. It's a rather shocking thing to see the disparity between the feathered bed that upper management receives with their golden parachutes and gorgeous retirement packages (think Neutron Jack Welch) and what these same arrogant and greedy managers attempt to do to cheat their workers out of a decent retirement.
