In reading your post, it is comforting to learn that I am not alone.

As I said, we have no one but ourselves to blame for what is taking place in our society. We have failed to learn from great Empires of the past. It wasn't the sword that brought Rome down, but rather the decadence of its own society. Just like Rome, America is falling too.

Rather than teaching our children to emulate great thinkers and contributors to our society, we reward filth and ignorance. Why should our children listen when we pay illiterate basketball players hundreds of millions of dollars while great scientists are portrayed as geeks? How can we teach our children the importance of family when we allow Hollywood to glorify deviants? How can we teach our children honesty when politicians and corporate leaders are robbing us blind?

I truly wish people would use their brains and think for themselves rather than be lead and manipulated like sheep. Unfortunately, that requires effort. Human nature is such that we always seek the path of effortlessness. As such, each society will be doomed to repeat the failures of the previous.
