The CPI doesn't appear to reflect the increases in housing across America, which is the average family's largest cost.

What facts show the CPI is correct?

It would be good news if the formula were correct, but so far am not seeing any data that shows it's correct.

Why do you believe it is correct?

I ask this sincerely - am interested in knowing the data points that might prove it is correct. What facts might explain the divergence between CPI and housing in America (not Silicon Valley, but America)? I'm sincerely interested in knowing if you think the formula is accurate and if so why.
