I know you're amused by how the American public loves to believe that President Nixon engaged in conspiracies to spy on his enemies, paid operatives to engage in dirty politics, ordered the IRS to investigate those who opposed him, and paid employees to commit burglaries when he was busily engaged in the affairs of state.

It's especially amusing since the only evidence of these alleged activities are tape recordings he made of himself directing this activity and the sworn testimony of his White House staff.

Being realistic, you know these things never happened because they're incompatible with your naively optimistic viewpoint.

But you know it's more fun for the American public to think that someone was sitting behind closed doors committing crimes, all the while lying about it.

If people actually thought a President of the United State would do such things, why would they ever vote anyone into office. Why not write to their Congressional representatives and stop bitching around the office water cooler about it.
