Well if you're going to blame Clinton because he was the last guy in office before 9-11 then you might as well blame Bush 1 too.

The fact of the matter is that the intelligence on the attack began to spike right around the time when Bush 2 was taking office. The Clinton Administration spent much time briefing the incoming administration about their concerns with Al Qaeda.

Clarke, who has served as an expert on terrorism for the last 16 years wrote a memo to Rice exclaiming the URGENT need to look into the planned attacks by Al Qaeda. Tenet was briefing Bush daily about the threats.

Now the intelligence was spiking during the Bush Administration... Clinton was already long gone...but you want to blame Clinton for it! You probably want to blame Clinton for a weak military...but the military was ready to go when Bush commanded them to Afghanistan and Iraq. Would you credit Clinton for the strong and ready military forces? I didn't think so. I know...Bush whipped the military into shape in those first 8 months...yeah yeah...that's the ticket.

The fact remains that both Clarke and Tenet warned the President of an attack by Al Qaeda. Bush's response was to take a month long vacation in Crawford.

I'd like to give Bush a permanent vacation in Crawford.
