There was no AQ in Iraq (and no WMDs either). AQ hated Saddam. The only Iraqi Islamic fundamentalists had a base in the Kurdish north, outside Sadam's reach. If we spent the money and resources we spent on Iraq fighting AQ, AQ would be completely destroyed by now. Instead it is enjoying a revival with numerous independent franchise operations sprouting all over. The process of turning around Libya was in its final stages by the time of the Iraq war. A similar process will probably have worked with Saddam, after we had thoroughly destroyed AQ -- after all he used to be our "friend" for decades.

I know you don't agree, but lets wait for history's judgement in a few years.
