Oh Penni, it sounds like your having a horrible day. Ok here's my 2 cents worth.

I don't care what the transmission shop is telling you. That is a total rip off! Call the dealership where you bought the car and explain what has happened. It's rediculous to have a transmission go out on a car in 77k miles. If they will not except any responsibility for repairs, then call the main offices and talk to some supervisory personell. You may not get any where but at least it will give you a chance to vent on someone, and if your successful it may really pay off. If they won't accept any responsibility for the repairs then tell them your going to file a complaint with the better business beaurau. Also tell the dealership that. Some dealerships get allot of price breaks by having the highest costumer satisfaction ratings, so make a big deal about it. Saying things like I'll put an ad in the paper also might shake them up a bit.

Also as suggested, keep calling around to other shops in your area. That price has got to be beatin. I would think by about 1500 bucks. Not free but at least less painful. I also would go so far as calling in some favors from friends if you have any with mechanical skills. Transmissions are really not that difficult to repair if you have a lift rental shop in the area. Chilton books can guide anyone with a mechanic friend nearby.

About your sprinklers. I just put ours in over the last few weekends. There should be a green box somewhere on your property to indicate where the bleed valves are. If not which seems likely, see if you can find out who put the darn thing in. They obviously didn't do something right.

I doubt if this will help, but it's the best I can do.

Good Luck, Michael
