At any rate, as far as I know, the United States did not support the overthrow Aristide. What happened, is that Aristide resigned when it was clear that the United States would not militarily prop him up. Once the United States moved him (and his friends) to safety, he changed his mind about resigning.

Aristide has been joy riding around the world without interference by the United States. It seems to me he could return to Haiti anytime he wants. Of course he might not be very welcome by the citizens. If we had not assisted his departure he would be long dead and on a pile of garbage somewhere. Maybe Maxine Waters could return with him as his queen????
