JB: So might they have stopped the September 11 attacks?

RC: I don't want to say they could have stopped the attacks. But there was a chance.

JB: A reasonable chance? A good chance?

RC: There was a chance, and whatever the probability was, they didn't take it."

There may have been a chance but I think its hard to hold this WH accountable for a number of reasons.......first, they must get warnings of potential terrorists attacks all the time...how do you discern what's real and what isn't. We also have to remember that many of these people are sleepers.......they look like normal people until they are activated to kill. That's how Spain missed it......the kingpin guy was a low level operative who turned out to be a mastermind. And finally, in a million years, who would have thought they would hijack airliners in order to use them as bombs........the image is so disturbing, its hard to imagine someone doing it.

Having said all that, there is no excuse for the WH's behavior after 9/11 when they mostly focused on Iraq instead of al Qaeda. They should be hung from their gonads for that one.
