Gulo, we focus too much on the States... look at some of the European stuff... ... France actually (to my surprise) comes out pretty good in terms of things like wait times and cost and basically all around. I doubt if we Canadians were really getting the value for and efficiency we should be for our expenditures that there would be so much discussion on this topic...

Denmark on the other hand seems to be a poster child for keeping the state out of it... Again the issue is not just more money or free care..

My sister lives in California, makes a very good living. and yet healthcare is very big concern for her...She is in good great health but her ex's father had heart problems... and being self employed health care was obscene... to put it politely..

Another reason that Americans spend more on health care may be that they are allowed to The infant mortality rate seems to indicate that much is spent by few.... Like with home prices median numbers might be more revealing here than averages... OTOH would it only have cost your brother a few thousand ? My dad had a bypass with 10 days of the doctor recommending it (no heart attack) while my wife is queued up 6 months for some stomach specialist.... OTOH Harrison McCain used a Boston Clinic.. My uncle (well off) went to the Mayo Clinic for eye surgery...

Spots..
