If I follow your reasoning; since many people have been named Jesus we can not know anything about or differentiate any of them?

Now you are making some progress here I can see finally ...you are willing to admit now that Jesus was as common a name then as Mohammed is today in the Islamic world ....this is something to consider. As for your second statement of the Lincoln parallel , stop being so intentionally dense:

Many people also have the name Abraham, must we therefore deny the existence of Abe Lincoln. That's just plain goofy.

No Greg , we are not talking about "denying the existence" of Abe Lincoln , what is being talked about here is of a "wonder-worker" figure of 2000yrs ago bearing a name that was associated for centuries throughout all and each of the Hebrew tribes with a champion of God's covenant , a Liberator of Men's hearts , a conquerer of Sin and leader of the people out of the wilderness and into righteousness . And all other manner of mystical, divine and heroic attributes , so that many were given the name Jesus . That part of the world was rife with the belief in such savior/hero figures, and forms it's basic tenent-belief earlier in Moses myth , and brother Joshua conquerer myth (Jesus of the Fish=Joshua) so any possibility of a Jesus figure arrriving to fulfill what was a culture almost always poised to see and find such a one , is no surprise.

We are talking about the ancient world here, not of a politician/president who was wise and learned but scared babies when he held them , who lived in the last two hundred years , and his "history" can be more readily accessed through so many numerous ways .
(Though there is another "Lincolnesque" political figure today , who does also scare babies with his inability to smile and manner called ---->John Kerry!;-)

hehe
