He was selling the party line in that "press briefing". As an employee of the Bush admin, did you expect him to blast their policy to the press? How many times does that happen in the 100's of press briefing that take place every year?

He was lying then or he's lying now. He is a disgruntled employee, pissed because he didn't get the job he wanted.

I certainly would not expect ANY administration employee to lie under ANY circumstances. The Bush administration, in its entirety, has practiced absolute honesty in every respect. The American People don't expect to have administration officials lying, nor should the media. (This ISN'T the Clinton administration, you know?).

Anybody that isn't totally naive understands what a press briefing is for.

I'm certainly not naive, but I don't expect government officials to be lying. If they want to make it look as good as possible, fine.

You're working overtime to try and support the party line. Mr. Non-Partisan. LMAO.
