Promises, promises

Monday, March 29, 2004

Ten million new jobs in the next four years. A 5 percent tax cut for corporations. A federal budget deficit half of what it is today.

If Democratic presidential candidate John Kerry's economic agenda sounds either like miracle-working or cowpies, it probably is.
Kerry, in Michigan last week, is apparently trying to avoid the Massachusetts liberal label that Republicans are trying to wrap around him by calling for corporate tax cuts and tax breaks for small companies to help them provide health care for their employees.

But the part that made our eyes pop was the promise of 10 million new jobs. Only if Kerry can walk on water.
