There's a Nobel Prize waiting for whoever can discover and prove cold fusion. THere HAS to be new physics involved.

And there's a fortune. Even if it is NOT patentable in the US, it would be patentable in Europe and Japan ands then licensable to US companies.

I hardly think the attitude of the USPTO is going to affect matters much.
