I agree. Nor do I have any real problems with most of the administration's efforts against terrorism. My complaint (and largely Clarke's complaint as well) is that Bush shouldn't have gone into Iraq. From my point of view, that was not an effort against terrorism, it was instead an ill conceived adventure that they hoped was going to have an effect not on terror per se, but instead on the Middle East in general. They were probably driven to do this because they had little use for the US military (our strongest foreign asset) in the "war" on terror.

Like the engineers say, the guy whose only tool is a hammer tends to think that all problems are nails.
