Your post to which I responded spoke mostly about terrorism in general, so I responded to that. However, I did mention Iraq:
The UN is even being useful in helping to prepare for elections in Iraq.
You Bush critics are over-obsessed with the decision to go to war with Iraq. Yet at the time, the majority of the American people and the majority of Congress all supported it. Including Kerry, I might add. KERRY: “George, I said at the time I would have preferred if we had given diplomacy a greater opportunity, but I think it was the right decision to disarm Saddam Hussein, and when the President made the decision, I supported him, and I support the fact that we did disarm him.” (ABC News, Democrat Presidential Candidate Debate, Columbia, SC, 5/4/03)
Time has moved on and the world has moved on and now the issue is the development of a democratic government in Iraq. Most of the nations of the world support our efforts on this. And so does Kerry.
But to go back and look at the war issue again, there was lots of evidence of connections between Saddam and Al Qaeda. And if they were connected, that makes Iraq part and parcel of the WOT.
The Clinton administration thought they were connected and said so and the Clinton Justice Department said there was an agreement between the two when they issued an indictment for OBL. George Tenet, in 2002, said there was an connection between the two. Richard Clarke said in 1999, that Iraqi intelligence had provided VX gas for the Al Shifa pharma factory in which OBL had an interest. I've posted so much on this I'm tired of it. Two good articles on the subject:
