Let me start by asking you: in what way was the Church more repressive?

I am much more familiar with the tainted and weird history of the Catholic Church in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance than any other group. Stories like the expulsion of the Muslims and Jews from Spain by Ferdie and Bella, using that way kuhl dude Torquemada. And the murder of scientists for disputing Catholic superstitions about astronomy, etc. And then there were the bloody and criminally motivated Crusades, including the infamous Rape of Constantinople. Not to mention the bribery scams posing as "dispensations", etc.

Compared to those centuries of Catholic atrocities, I haven't seen a comparable body of horrid behavior from the Jewish Rabbinical breed.
