HP, IBM, StorageTek and Sun Microsystems will include the SilkWorm fabric in their SAN solutions, according to Brocade. Currently, HP is the only OEM to announce availability of the Brocade switch in its SAN offering -- a move that allowed it to drop the price to $5,000, a 15 percent reduction.

Could this be the reason for Qlogic's shortfall in revenues? Lower prices and thin margins will still impact Brocade but they may see greater market share as a result of these OEM's building in SilkWorm fabric in their SAN offering.
