That's fairly idiotic....

I would agree, however, that the Sunni triangle (and their co-religionist Wahabist allies in Syria and Saudi Arabia) are probably irredeemably anti-American for at least a generation or so to come --- after all: they were the small 20% minority that benefited from keeping their feet upon the necks of the rest of the population... the Shias, the Kurds, the Turkmen, etc.

It's quite natural to see the former ruling class pissed-off because they have been knocked from their perch... but I agree with you that it's unreasonable to expect a change of heart in the Sunni Triangle --- at least for a long, long time to come.

So, perhaps we should not stand in the way of the inevitable, let what Bush I and Scowcroft predicted come to pass: the dissolution of that artificial construct called "Iraq", and the emergence of new nations there.
