Bush needs to detach from this commission crap. He should have been ruthlessly firm in protecting the Constitution. By now, he would have been free to show how he has put down a nice foundation for growth. The silver lining here is that if Rice does well, Bush will see a nice spike in support. To be sure, the media will do all it can to see to it that Rice looks awful.

When Bush finally detaches, he should be all blue skies and roses. Cheney should be on the warpath, relentlessly attacking Kerry's record, relentlessly showing how he lacks a backbone, relentlessly showing that Kerry is just a fish.

Other operatives need to hammer the Democrats in general.

I'm not thinking about just having the GOP stay in the White House. I think that will happen (though we cannot assume it). I am thinking of trying to so demolish the credibility of the Democrats that Bush grows coat tails, the longer the better.
