OK so lets cut all the foreplay, lets go beyond all the "for public consumption" crap... lets get right to the meat of it, at least IMO....
the only way, only way... USA or any other entity can defeat terrorism is from within...black ops, special ops, special groups of counter terrorism operatives operating within the cells and intelligentsia of the terrorists themselves.
we lost that capability under Adm Stansfield Turner who worked for Pres. Jimmy Carter in the 70s, his dismantleing and emasculating of the CIA and all black ops has never really been recovered from...George Tennant is on the right track and has been trying to rebuild that mindset-mindthink within the CIA, 9/11 has been the catalyst to accelerate that process and we are closer to it then since the 70s...
the Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Rice, Perle, Wolfawitz program of implementing a Jeffersonian Democracy in the Middle East is a noble ideal but can never work due to the vast difference in social, cultural, religious differences of the Islamic world versus the Christian world and on top of that we have a developed country trying to institute their ideals on an undeveloped country...never work, not in a million years.
If one believes in the PNAC principles and ideology(which I do) and or a modified version of British Imperialism then covert manipulation is the only way.
Once we have extracted ourselves from the debacle that we are presently in we will begin to implement the other option.
A Clinton (Kerry)appeasement style mindset would just lead to further overt terrorism within our borders and USA becoming a 2nd or 3rd rate toothless tiger power.
it still ultimately boils down to the very simple...Dog eat Dog, Survival of the fittest, my tribe, your tribe...
everything in between is just so much political BS and financial greed...
bottom line is for us to perpetuate our lifestyle not theirs and as for peace on earth and lets all be friends....puuuleeezzzz
it is all a very large, very speculative, very lucrative, very real Global game...the prize is POWER...WEALTH...CONTROL...
the players are USA/GREAT BRITAN/ISRAEL...CHINA...RUSSIA...
all others are minor players/pawns in this game...
the leverage is OIL...FOOD...RESOURCES...MONEY
for all intent USA is winning, China 2nd and Russia coming up 3rd...
