I think the real question is whether it is worth asking other people to die for.

Quite a few Americans thought the Spanish Civil War was worth risking their lives for, but that was their choice. They weren't asking other people to take the risk for them.

My family comes from a country that is ruled by a dictatorship. Would I be in favor of the US invading that nation and bringing freedom to its people, and the family I still have there? Absolutely not, it is not the US's fight, and asking a US serviceman to fight someone else's battle is, imo, cowardly.
