Beneath Contempt
The invaluable Media Research Center has issued a cyber alert this morning (not yet posted to its excellent website mrc.org about a CBS News story's political slant, which is simultaneously beyond both parody and contempt. We quote their email alert this morning:
"The long job slump," in George Bush's America, "has left
many Americans desperate enough to risk everything for a
decent paycheck," CBS's Dan Rather suggested Wednesday
night, so some end up paying "the ultimate price." Rather
asked: "What drives American civilians to risk death in
Iraq? In this economy, it may be, for some, the only job
they can find."
In Delaware, with 3.4 percent unemployment?
We can only add that the implication that the brave,
skilled, and patriotic men, such as Scott Helvenston, were
otherwise unemployable is simply disgusting. CBS News,
corporate parent Viacom, and Dan Rather himself all owe an
abject apology to these men who gave their lives in
service of high ideals.
Are there no depths which these people will not plumb?

No Bias?
On AOL, the 308,000 jobs growth is NOT the top new story.
Not even highlighted. When job growth came in at 21,000
last month, disappointing job news was the top story. I am
sure this in not deliberate. Maybe they will have a
headline later today on increase in unemployment rate. |
