Bob Bronson made an interesting observation: there have been several instances in the past when lagging economic indicators like job growth turned up while the leading indicators had already turned back down again. the most famous example is just prior to the mid 70's stock market collapse. in fact, the common denominator of these occurences is a top in the stock market.
