isn't it clear by now that the Palestinians who make the decisions (the ones with the guns) don't give a damn about the economy?
In current circumstances, certainly...
But who will have the superior firepower should 100,000 NATO troops pop up and enter from Jordan and Egypt (they would not likely have permission to deploy from Israel, nor would that be politically expeditious).
My goodness, Nadine... Palestine is no different than many terrorized urban neighborhoods where cops are not prevalent and local gangs make the rules..
And of course the Palestinians look to these gangs as their salvation because they have little perception of a viable alternative. They feel hopeless and their leaders feed it, and prey upon their fears and hopes..
But you and I know that this is nothing more than a sham, perpetuating an endless cycle of violence and despair.
Can I have some of what you're smoking?
Actually I was going to hit you up earlier when you made the comment that the problem would resolve itself when the Abu Ala took over the reins of power from Arafat..
Come on now... I reiterate... do you really think that Hamas would really let him make peace with Israel?
Look, anti-Americanism drives anti-Zionism which drives support for the Palestinian cause.
And no.. YOU look Nadine... The US has stood by Israel, saving their bacon in 1973, and standing by to actually insert troops into that country had the Egytians and Syrians crossed the countries borders (did you know that?)
We had forces on alert, ready to be deployed into Israel, in 1973.. I personally know someone who asserted that his unit was mobilized for just that very purpose.
And while I fully understand, and even concur to an extent, as to why Israel wanted to maintain control over the West Bank for its security reasons, it's apparent that with the peace treaty with Jordan and that country's granting of "self-determination" to the Palestinian residents the issue is now how to resolve the issue in a manner that creates two states that can get along with one another.
But it's Anti-Zionism, fed by Israeli settlements, and Arab conspiracy theories, which is breeding the majority of anti-Americanism in the region..
This is quite observable in how the average muslim has changed their perception of the US since 1973. Prior to that war the US was not a major supporter of Israel and US oil companies were all over the mid-east and Arabs had few issues with Americans.
But we start supporting Israel, right or wrong, and we see a wave of Anti-Americanism permeate the region.
Have another puff Nadine... One of us needs to stay sober.. :0)
